Not a huge expert but I do enjoy a good sake, and what little I know comes from some years living in Tokyo.
Most (nearly all) decent sake is drunk chilled or room temperature. Try a daiginjo or better still a junmai daiginjo for the smoothest taste. I prefer the crisp, dryer sakes. There's a decent one available in the UK called Dattsai (or Dassai) 23 I think. Really delicious and well worth splurging to get hold of a bottle. Drink it chilled and you'll never look back!

Lived in Japan for a number of years and developed a taste for Sake. It can be drunk at many different temperatures. Like 'normal' wine, there are thousands of different types with a very wide range of flavours - from sickly sweet to tongue-achingly dry, and everything in between.
I prefer mine cold in summer, warm in winter, and dry, but not too dry - and I've hundreds of choices.
Once got hauled into the back of a police car in Sagami Ohno, Kanagawa Prefecture because I'd fallen off a borrowed/nicked bike in front of them whilst pissed and on a mission to buy more from the 7-11.
No telling off, just a lift to the store and a lift home, and craic with the two coppers. Subsequently used to meet one of them on occasion for drinks when he was off-duty- he was a real petrol-head and drove a '68 Mustang at weekends.
Good times.

maybe it's a grower!
If I remember correctly as with wine some is 'supposed' to be served chilled and some warm?maybe it's a grower!
I rather like Sake, though I must confess to knowing very little about it.
