Anyone looking for a Rover P6 ?

Hello all.

I saw a thread last week where someone was talking about getting a P6 as an everyday car.

I knew this one was coming up, as I know Graham (the chap who is selling it on behalf of the owners) very well, but I couldn't post details until he had all the permissions etc to sell it.

This car has been in Grahams workshop since I first met him, hopefully it'll find a good home, it needs the paint finishing, but is in very good condition (probably better than when it left Rover !)

Someone's going to get a bargain there!

Looks like a lot of the hard work has been done. If only I could persuade the OH she wants one of these and not a moggy.

Graham generally does SAABs, the old two stroke jobbies.

One of his is in the science museum, that bodyshell will be faultless, take her to see a complete one, it'd be a great everyday car, let alone a weekend classic

Yeah, I explained that it'd be better than the moggy as a daily, which is what she wants the minor for.

Looks like there'd be a lot less welding for me in the rover too!

Added to which it will have better brakes/steering/suspension.

LOL, check with Graham, I'd be amazed if there was any welding to be done, I think it's a bolt and clip together job, he even has the paint needed, I'm guessing the engine wouldn't be an issue for you, because he didn't get that far.

And yes, I'd imagine it'd drive better than a moggi, but it is a tricky one if she has her heart set on a particular type of car.

A P6 SC is a bit under powered though, and if doing lots of driving round town could feel a little cumbersome for a girl I think. I think that the 4 pot ones dont have PAS like some of the 8 bangers.

I've had a 2000SC manual and a 3500 auto with PAS both as daily drivers.

If running around locally is what its for a moggy would be very nice, I have a traveller for running about and its perfect for the job, rarely goes more than 3 miles!

That car looks a nice project.

Well, mostly up and down A roads to work and once a month from the Midlands to Kent.

Not sure that a couple of hours sat on the M1 will be good for a Minor tbh, although she's currently doing it in a 2000 Clio.

She likes to drive my old '84 Series 3 Landy, that has no power steering, drum brakes and an erratic V8, managed to cope OK with it other than the choke.

As sacrilegious as it might sound I have no shortage of spare V8 engines laying about the place so can always convert it to a 3.5 on LPG

..and another P6 for sale, I spotted it at a garage in Woodingdean, Brighton (Warren Road). £1750 I think.

Can't say if it's a 2000 or 3500, I just saw it as I drove past.
