Just looking for a bit of advice regarding looking for a hotel outside London. I have a meeting in the West End on Monday morning and I'm looking for a reasonable hotel for the Sunday night, needs to have parking where I can leave the car all day Monday and catch a train into the City, so a station within walking distance from the hotel would be ideal. Any ideas? Thanks!

Outside London is a rather large area. Which area of the country you are approaching from may help people direct you a bit better.

Have a look at Hotwire.com - lots of very cheap deals around Heathrow. Expect to pay £12 - £15 for 24 hours' car parking on top.

If it's just a bed you want then there is a Premier Inn in Ruislip, that is close to the Ruislip Met Line or West Ruislip Central Line, both a 5-10 min walk. Car park is free and there is a restaurant/pub attached to the 'hotel'.

Its further round but we stayed at

at Xmas.

Great price; Good transport links; and free parking plus loads of choice for Sunday night food in Greenwich

If your meeting is in the west end then the Picadilly line on the tube is the easiest way in, Heathrow hotels will allow you to jump on the tube at Heathrow or the jury's inn near hatton cross would work as well.

In all honesty, Chippenham is 1hr 15mins into Paddington. It could easily take you that to drive from a hotel, park at a station and get a stopping train into town.

Croydon Park Hotel. 12 minutes to Victoria. Parking round the back.

Good hotel, direct train to london, although not sure about getting to the west end from Paddington.

Oh and parking too at the station.

In the NCP... I wouldn't leave any pride and joy in there during the day (tiny spaces) or at night (it's not manned).

This was ideal for my requirements, just booked a room! Many thanks one and all, Pistonheads delivers yet again. smile

But it sounds like it may be in Croydon.

Is it wise going there wink
A few minutes walk from East Croydon, which isn't too bad. There are armed patrols and a helicopter gunship overhead, given you take the advice about body armour and keep low and weave you probably won't be hit.

wink

Preferable to the tube any day ! But didn't realise the OP was coming from the West.
