Hi Guys,

A way back I started a thread on the car I'm designing and building, and thought it was time for an update -

Looks Great!
Is that a CBR600F(S?) rear end?
What have you used for the front?
Looks like a lot of tube an triangulation!
What did you use for the front hubs, wishbones and steering rack?
Are you planning formula ford type bodywork or sometnhing more exotic?
I would like to do something similar one day but not sure about the cockpit - in my mind I had a tandem cockpit more like a Grinnal?

Ive seen worse on several kit car sands at shows and this looks quite a reasonable build for a single seater im pretty sure its not costing you tens of thousands to develop.

What are the plans for the body? do you have any? Id be inclined to get some help if your not an expert. Local college maybe get some free design.

Good to see it's still coming along. Have you conpletely given up on the Formula Student design now? Any plans for the angle of the steering wheel, looks like a bus!

Certainly looks interesting. .

How are you going to avoid horrific amounts of wheelspin with such a small contact patch at the rear?

Keen eye there -

The back is a CBR600F 96' rear.
Front end is all custom Design-build as are the hubs and wishbones. the steering rack will (hopefully) be a formula ford one (expensive - so i'm waiting for a deal on ebay)
There should be bodywork once it's running ok, I'm thinking quite exotic - got a design student mate that love all that arty-farty stuff, so i;ll be putting him to work.

Did think about a two-seater - but messes up your power to weight ratio cry

Haha - yeah is a bit bus like!!

The steering will have two CV joints and thrust shaft (from some drum kit hardware as it happens), so you'll be about to get in with it in 'bus-driver' position, and then lower it - need a quick release for that still though - it's currently bolted.

The formula student thing was a great start point - but it's definitely taken on it's own direction now, and i'm content to see where it leads.

Careful throttle-control with my ham-feet. biggrin

quite want to drift it though, so some wheel-spin would be nice. . .

Good luck with the project and keep the thread up to date - it should make interesting reading!
