fire! southampton docks!

I am at work on the other side of the water in Marchwood watching a massive plume of smoke engulf Southampton. Looks pretty bad and its been going for a couple of hours now!

hope the wind doesnt change, I`m in Whiteley at the moment and theres a definite whiff off burning plastic everywhere, which I though was odd considering how windy it is!

Just saw the warning signs mentioning smoke on the Millbrook Bypass. I wondered what it was about.

I just got in from work and nearly got the wheels off the car cos I could smell burning and thought it was my brakes!

Anyone know what caused it?

may not be related, but was in Soton this morning and there was smoke coming from what looked like a large mountain of scrap or waste?

It was the scrap metal place that was on fire mark.

ah yes, looks like it was what I drove past as just read the newspaper article, mid morning there was a very large pile of whats now confirmed metal scrap which had thick white smoke coming from it, takes something to get metal alight but once its hold it will be interesting to get under control - hope all ok ;-(
