mine went down too.
Contrary to popular PH belief it is not all doom and gloom.

The mainstream insurers do seem to be doing well in certain markets/risk groups. Privilege just covered my Cayman S for £600, and the usual 'specialist' brokers could not get close by a huge margin... In fact, I had quite a long chat with a particular broker who said they could not believe some of the quotes coming out of the Admirals etc...

Perhaps also the impending (will it actually happen) tightening on the referral fees etc, coupled with the economy is making for a more competitive market...

My insurance on the Exige went down £437 compared to last year - for no reason I can fathom. No complaints here, except that now covering an old French hatchback costs me more than a delicate fibreglass sportscar.

A couple of weeks ago I was quoted £125 fully comp on a mk1 CRX. No no-claims bonus on a classic policy with a 4,000 mile limit.

Silly cheap for insurance, especially as I couldn't afford the actual car.

I've managed to drop mine down just shy of £500 from last year. I did have to buy it in a bit of rush last year though as I was on my way down to collect the car and had only spoken to 3 companies, only one of which gave a vaguely sensible price.

I got my renewal quote down by £300...which was frankly amazing.

My job title has changed which meant a reduction in premium by £180!!! now that is mental.

Managed to chop 600 off mine this year by shopping around.
The sailor man wanted 1400. Phoned them to say I had a quote from another company of just over 800 could they match it. Went through all the details with the appropriate changes this year (car kept on street, change in mileage etc) and the price they wanted went up too 1500 and somthing.
They then asked if this was ok. I laughed and said no I think I'll go elsewhere this year.

Funny thing was majority of the insurance companies were quoting me 800-1000 this year.
Although the sailor man was cheaper then their quote last year, by 400, so thats something.
