I assume when a trader purchases a car from a private seller they take the V5 leaving the yellow bit with the previous owner to post out to DVLA.

From then on any fines or tickets for the car get sent to the traders address?

Thanks

Hi I have been in a similar situation and i believe untill the other DVLA recieve the details that the ownership has changed anything incured untill that time rests with the previous owner. I think it can be disputed as long as everything is dated. That what i think anyway but worth looking on DVLA website to check for sure. I wouldn't worry to much it took two weeks for my details to come through saying the car had changed hands.

I see, but once the DVLA has received the yellow slip and now knows its in traders hands. any comms regarding that car will now go straight to the trader, whether it's tax info, parking ticket etc etc

Yeah as long as they were encured after the Dvla recieved the slip, so if you encured any tickets ect beforehand their not wiped clean just because you no longer own the car. Thats what i think anyway.

Yes, I was just curious about after the DVLA knows that the owner has sold the car to a trader then whether from then on does the mail go to the previous owner until the DVLA get a new registered owner for the car or whether it all goes to the trader.
