Porterfrield R4S

Anyone run these pads? Just ordered a set front and rear to replace the absolute CRAP EBC Greenstuffs I used up at the track (two track days and they are toast, fortunately).
If you have run the R4S, let me know what you think. More concerned about initial bite, feel and fade than dusting, etc.
Thanks.

Jeff,
The R4s pads are supposed to be very good, unfortunately, they aren't available for my 'G' car. I drove a later model Esprit with them and the initial bite is really about the same, although this was hard street driving and not tracking. Don't look for any Quantum leap in performance though, better is a relative term afterall.
I use the EBC Greens too, including track days and think they're pretty good. Granted, my car has different brakes and is considerably lighter than yours. But, with these cars, two track days on any pads is pretty good. Happy Motoring! ...Jim'85TE

Jim, if you call Carbotech in Charlotte, NC (Carbotech Engineering on the web), I think they will make you a set from tracings of your backing plates. I may go that route next, I was just too lazy to take the pads off the car and trace them right now.
On the Greens....I HATE the lack of initial bite. You step on teh brake...nothing...and then they stop. Do you experience this? I used to grippy racing brakes (I use PFC Carbon Metallic compound 90s on my race car) and I just never got confident with the Greens.
I love the wheels on my car, the black X180R knock offs from 93 only, but I am seriously thinking about a caliper/rotor upgrade that will require me to go to 16 or 17 inch wheels. A shame....larger wheels are really just gearing....width is what matters, but durn the brakes on this car don't gut it for the track.
Any thoughts? I thought teh G cars had the TMC Celica brakes up front too?

Also, Jim, just out of curiousity, what did the "G" cars weigh? I think mine is 2800 or 2900 lbs....not bad by today's standards but still a bit of a porker for a fiberglass two seater. I've got 30k on it now....If I drive it another 4-5 years and it ends upw tih 60 or 70k so that it has little "street" value, I might strip it downa and turn it into a dedicated track car. I wonder what it would weigh with all the crap out of the interior?
