I'm heading down to Monaco next month for the F1, staying Saturday and Sunday in Nice, about 1 mile from the Nice Ville train station.

Does any one know the best train ticket to purchase for the weekend to get me and 4 others from Nice to Monaco and back for the 2 days ?

I can find and booked tickets via http://www.raileurope.co.uk for £3.50, but this tickets seem to be fixed to the time that you book, and not flexible.

Are there any other ideas or options for pre-paying for the train ?

Just buy the tickets at the station.

As above, easy & cheap. There are automated ticket machines in the station, you can push the Union Jack icon on the screen to have it in English if you wish.

Thanks, was hoping not having to queue any where for tickets.

Have heard back from raileurope.co.uk, that a ticket purchased online for a specific time, can indeed be used at any time, £2.25 extra for the tickets to be posted on, or free collection via ticket machines at the station.

Either way, saves you having to get any cash or cc out.

Did this journey a few times myself in 2005. Bought tickets at station and just waited for train to turn up.

Amazing scenery along the coastline, enjoyed from an air conditioned double decker train!

It actually made getting a train something to look forward to!
