Wheel balancing on the 993tt...
Discussion
Much grief recently experienced when ambling along in the beetle; basically, when tootling at urban or m-way limits, the excess play through the wheel had been seriously irritating.
In fact, it had been so bad that I was convinced the engine had mutated an additional 250 bhp and was creating some kind of beubonic torque steer!
A couple of hours with Tech9 yesterday, thankfully and all is resolved.
It seems that last month's Bruntingthorpe brutality may have dislodged some significant weight grammage from the rims and lo - what an adverse effect.
I'd always been aware of the 993tt's sensitivity to 'being thrown' as it were, ito road abberations ballsing up the geometry and thus how frequent checks were required but the difference after this balance was incredible.
Cruising back along the M62 yesterday, windows down, sun making a welcome appearance, Thin Lizzy on, experimenting with a studioulsy observed 70 mph adherence, I almost felt like a renegade Californian rolling down the Pacific coast road.
Except for the whippet on the passenger seat.
Er, oh yes, the moral of the story is balance your wheels, every fortnight.
Chin, chin.

Glad the Beetle is fixed.
Another Thin Lizzy fan too! I have been a fan since my first decade A spirited drive with 'Dedication' playing is near heaven on earth I think
The banana is presently in the OPC, whye ei man in Newcastle having the RHS cat replaced. This should cure the woes of the 'engine warning light' saga that have plagued me since picking the car up.
After 5 weeks of ownership despite the problems, I must admit the car is astounding. The last week has seen me have more confidence to throw it around a little more. It seems to inspire more confidence the harder I push it.....as if to goad me to push it that little bit further every time. 2 nd and 3 rd gear assaults on A-road roundabouts have me grinning like a cat
Have a good weekend all.
Best Regards

Glad you're developing the repertoire, Martyn.
If you ever did go for the bucket seats/non-Clapham omnibus steering wheel in your car, it might be interesting to experience the sensation in tandem with the standard suspension set-up; I think on road that would enable almost PSM-standard over confidence.
