Headlight mod idea
Discussion
Been toying with the idea of modifying the headlights so i did a few quick photoshops (im crap at photoshop). All im planning to do is remove the indicators and to integrate it into the main headlight. Im also planning on putting a perspex cover on the headlight for aesthetics and aerodynamics
What do you think? Does it look too bare?

Hey,
I am trying to look into alternatives for the old style front CAM headlights also. I think the set back indented headlights makes for a more dated look, and IMHO taking away the indicator just highlights this.
I am trying to get hold of Paul Cundy for the headlight covers but as yet no response from him

I was talking to the missus about this only yesterday. I also agree that it makes the car look dated. The thing is, there appear to be only 2 options :I am trying to look into alternatives for the old style front CAM headlights also. 1) buy a 3R clam and have it resprayed.
2) buy all the 3R light mouldings etc, but that, as I recall, costs well over £1k ( maybe £1.5k ? ) and then you have to fit them.
The Elise S2 has similar lights to the 3R - I wonder if those could be used ?
Tuxman has lenses covers over his 3 lights. they look quite good.
everyone talks about the various aero dynamic failings of our cars - surely the GTO3 headlights are like having a mini brick wall half way up the nose?
i like the look minus indicators - how about relocating as strips (like porsche) in the front lower aim dams?
also like the no numberplate option. reckon we'd get in trouble painting the plate on the lower lip above the splitter?

I tried the light covers and took them off after a while. The reason was that they did not fit too well, and you needed the Patience of Job to make a good job. All that tape and black sealant and so on - to me they looked like they were stuck on ( I know they were "stuck on" but you know what I mean ). For a distance they looked okay but close up I reckoned they looked like stick on bits. I've seen pictures of TuxMan's and they look far better than mine did.

I'll be sticking my new plate their too, cant see too much for them to complain about.....
i have mine there...never had a problem from plod.
This had got my thinking, so I've looked it up and actually there are several reasons why that number in not legal:i have mine there...never had a problem from plod.
a) It has to display various things, such as the BS number, the name of the manufacturer or other details and the name and post code of the supplier.
b) It has to be vertical or if that's not possible, as near vertical as it can be.
So there are rather a lot of things for plod to complain about. I make no judgement - I'm mealy pointing out what the law says.
As an observation, I was with someone who has Corvette a few months ago. It has a small number plate on the front and he got stopped as were driving. It turns out he can have a small plate because it's an imported car, but there are still specifications about exactly what that size is. He told me that's not the first time he's been stopped.
