Okay so I am the one who never has problems! Have now! Horrendous brake squeal when coming to a halt. I am taking the car to Broughtons on Friday, there is an apparent cure on a new bulletin recently released by AM that involves installing a shim in the brake calipers. While the car is in dock they are also going to download a software upgrade on the gearbox which will speed up high speed gear changes. Sad I know but they are also going to show me how to check the oil level. I am also to be loaned a car for the day. Problems what problems! Will keep you posted.

Let me know the Bulltin No on the brakes - mine has the same issue on near side rear
Noted the ASM2 update I'll get that done on mine
PLEASE tell me you have checked the oil before now! Mine has had 1.5 litres topped up in 1700 miles!
The V8 does use it when you push it hard wink

Bugger I have never checked mine. I am resolute in stating that she has always conformed to the speed limits. Mikey what about the gearbox mod? Faster upshifts from 120 would be something to be enjoyed!

Don't go to the dark side Mikey! Modern Ferraris are just awful. Great to drive apparently (although I didn't rate the standard F430 spider I tested), but so hideous! Not to mention they don't sound right well compared to Astons. Now if you suggested a 355 spider... yum

Hang on in for the V12V roadster! Try the SLS roadster too, absolutely fantastic smile

Back on topic! Broughtons have now fitted shims to the back of the brake pads. These would appear to be the same size as the actual pad and glued them into place. On the drive home no squeal at all! I tried fast stopping, slow stopping, queuing and stopping on the M50, no noise at all.

Whilst there the gearbox softwhere upgrade was also done. I can only say to anyone with Sportshift 2 "get it done" - what a difference - that is immediately apparent. Upshifts are sharper and quicker plus when drawing to a halt the box smoothly drops down the cogs.

I was also shown how to check the oil level. My S has now completed 4300 miles, no oil was required at all.

Broughtons loaned me an Audi A3 {62mpg} whilst the work was done, when I collected my car it had been washed and the interior cleaned.

I am really pleased. Thanks once again to Ian at Broughtons for sorting things out. I guess I shall award the dealership the usual 10 out of 10.
