let your foot off, after HARD acceleration (gearchange?) and the engine coughs and splutters, backfires and what sounds like blowing back (ooer), not wanting to seem paranoid but what would I reasonably expect and how would I temper this behaviour (timing? belts slackening? Mr Adams chip? not driving in such an erratic way..?)?
I've not seem flames but then i'm facing the wrong way!

oh yeah - to save you looking at my prof;
'93 griff 400, precat.
bought end of April done approx 2k so far (i know but it's new!!)
optimax
new plugs/leads (1000 miles new)
four recent long motorway trips (300 mls)

The symtoms appear to have got worse since purchase..
