What was I stuck behind?
Discussion
On my way home from work today at 5pm I got stuck on the B3051 from the A339 at Kingsclere to Tadley behind a very secure looking convoy.
The main thing seemed to be a dark blue HGV with no markings other than a number on the back. This was accompanied by what looked like a couple of armoured police vans in the same blue as the HGV, a couple of green armoured vehicles, presumably army, a police people carrier and a couple of police bikes.
At Tadley I went around the south of AWE and the convoy went the north side towards Aldermaston. I'd guess that it was heading towards the AWE north gate.
Anyone any idea what it was carrying?

I was in the middle of the convoy for a while! There was an accident at the A339/B3051 junction so the police people carrier stopped briefly to make sure they were ok and I came out onto the A339 roundabout in Kingsclere between a police armoured vehicle and an army armoured vehicle so for a while I had the police people carrier, an army armoured vehicle and a police motorbike behind me. It did make me feel slightly nervous I must admit...

Nuclear material of some description - they vary the routes to avoid becoming too predictable.
And now you've posted the route on a public forum. But don't be worried about it. Not at all. It's not like you were following them or anything...
Well as it's one of 3 A/B routes out of Tadley, it's hardly a surprise! And now you've posted the route on a public forum. But don't be worried about it. Not at all. It's not like you were following them or anything...

I wonder if they ever take the B3051 to Overton/Whitchurch
