Timing

Hi, please can anyone help..Ive been looking for timing information for my Chim 400 (96), im setting it 2moro and have found information suggesting it should be 32deg @ 3750rpm with vac advance disconnected. Can anyone please confirm? I always run on super unleaded and ocassionally thro in sum octane booster for good measure.

Also where is cylinder one? sum websites are saying very different things.

have you referred to the bible Pages 31 and 33? 4 values quoted for the 4 litre in here alone. From what i've read the timing settings are pretty variable and really need to be optimised on a rolling road. Presumably depends on the exact specs of: the ECU and ignition map, Cam, mechanical advance, compression ratio, individual engine differences. All of which changed from time to time in production and on request of buyers. I was going to quote the figures from Mr Heath's good book, but suddenly thought I might be infringing copyright so I daren't. Perhaps you could e-mail him direct?

Oh sorry forgot to say Number 1 is LH bank at the front (left is odd; 1,3,5,7, RH even;2,4,6,8). P.S (you probably know this but just in case)recommended reading; Steve Heath's book "The TVR Griffith and Chimaera" (the bible)and David Hardcastle's books: "The Rover V8 engine" and "Tuning Rover V8 engines".
