Am new to the forum so go easy on me!

I am in the process of buying a new Cayenne diesel and have a couple of specific questions for you:

1) Can you advise me on the best alloys to get - love the 21 turbo 2 wheels but worth 3.5k? Do they really impact the drive?

2) What consumption do you really get driving around London?

3) What are my running costs (in terms of servicing etc..) likely to be? Seen lots of different numbers thrown around on this

And finally..

4) Any advice on good places for insurance?

Thanks all (I appreciate some of this is in previous threads but wanted an up to date view)

I believe you really need air suspension if going for 20+ inch wheels, so it'll cost even more if you want it to ride nicely.

Biturbo sounds good driving

Picked one of these bad-boys up 2 weeks ago. Got the 21's with air and the ride is superb. Servicing costs - I'll let you know in a couple of years. MPG around London - don't know, don't live there, but around my local town I get about 33 mpg just trundling around, and about 27 when I open the taps. Insurance - impossible to distinguish these days, just go on a comparison website.

Porsche haven't announced when the new BiTDI engine will be bolted in yet, but after the usual development, design and testing for this particular vehicle, I would guess around September/October time.

I think the 21s will impact the ride. I have the Air Suspension and 20s and think the ride is the worst part of the car. I had a Merc E350 Estate before that was pillowy by comparison. This shudders over every pothole and imperfection, and is even quite floaty and bouncy on the motorway. I'd happily trade some of the dynamic ability for some ride comfort. Great car in every other respect though. What colour and spec are you going for?

Thanks everyone - keep the advice coming!

We are going to the navy blue and the 2 tone beige/brown leather.. any thoughts on this combo?

We have picked the 21s with no air - now thinking that could be a mistake? The problem is the 21s look the best (in my opinion) so not sure what 19s i would go for - if you have any pictures of your cayennes with 19s please feel free to share...

MPG looks pretty good actually.. :-)

Believe me, I have it - 21's with air is the way to go. The ride is superb in 'comfort', very very good in 'standard' and very good in 'sport'. I don't know what car that earlier post was describing - but it wasn't a Cayenne, and I've driven an 'S' with air on 21's, 3 Diesels with air on 21's , and one Diesel without on 20's.

Comfort - normal and sport - is that not PASM. Air suspension changes the height?

Has anyone tried PASM without air - my OPC advised that was a must not air for the ride??

I test drove a vehicle with PASM and no air on 21's and the ride was just fine. I liked the Spyder wheels so I will be ordering PASM without air on 20's and OPC advised the ride should be slightly better.

I pick mine up on Tuesday 20's PASM - no air. Can't wait, will let you know how it rides!

Must be nice to have your own private roads to average that speed upon - unless you were on a track or the autobahn? And WTF is that music you're listening to? wink
