Shock Settings

Just had my Gaz Nickel shocks serviced which are now back on the car. Gaz reckon I was running them too soft and recommend settings of 10-12 clicks rear and 14-15 front.
Tried these settings and the ride is awful on normal roads so have started to back them off a bit. Just wondered what settings others are using. I have 375 springs on the front and 3oo on the back.

Hi Rob,

I have GAZ Golds with 375/300 .

From closed I have set :
Front 13 clicks open
Rear 10 clicks open

Ride is not too bad , but have to experiment more to find an optimal setting

Are you starting from the 'fully hard' setting, or 'fully soft'? Damper adjustments should be specified from the 'fully hard' end of the scale and I expect that is what Gaz gave you.

Now there's a thought I was going from fully soft, I'll try it the other way round and see what its like.

I have standard Gaz on mine and I started with the 375/300 springs. I was never really happy with them finding that I had to stiffen the shocks to such an extent that the ride was very harsh and crashy (thats a technical term..!!).

I have since switched to 450 on the front and moved the 375s to the rear, wound back the shocks and its much much better.

Thanks for that Ralph, have seen that suggested before but unfortunately not till after I bought the new coil-overs. Think I will price up some 400's and maybe change, particularly as I have just had the exhaust modded and its a bit lower (and quieter) now.
