Hi Chaps,

Further to my chassis tidy up work:

http://www.pistonheads.com/xforums/topic.asp?h=0&a...

..I have lost track of my ride height along the way when fitting the new shocks/springs.

So the car currently looks like its been pimped by westwood - does anyone have any chassis to ground measurements (or anything else useful) that I can use to get it back where it should be?

Many thanks,
Matt.

I think for best results is to get the front bottom wishbone level .I recently lifted mine to front 150mm rear 170 ,to high for some Chimaera owners but i don`t have any problems with speed humps and i like the stance..

Measurments are from the triangular jacking points.

Mine's similar, 145-165mm from triangular plates.

Thats my target when the springs have settled ..

Listen to Haircut he goes on loads of trackdays whiches proves low ride height does not mean better handling.

Low ride height looks good but the negatives outway the positives.

Hey guys, sorry if this sounds thick, but I don't understand that measurement, bottom of wishbone to ground? That measurement would be dictated by the size of the wheel and tyre wouldn't it? What am I not getting? I was previously measuring highest point in wheel arch to ground, not very precise

I'm interested because I run my ride height low and slowly over the years have been adjusting it up (usually every time I bash the exhaust on a hump in the road). By the way, I do a lot of track days and never noticed any ill handling with low height, Peter, what problems would I get running it low?

I'm now curious to measure it

Thanks

Jack, measure from the underside of the triangular plates at the outrigger junctions.

It doesn't matter what wheel size you have as long as the tyre combination is approx correct to give the same overall circumfrence.
If that is correct, the 145/165 measurments will suit.

Alternatively, adjust your suspension so that the wishbones are level, (easier to do this on a ramp as you can see them!).

The point of having them level at rest is that they swing in an equal arc up and down.

If you have them set so the car sits low, most of the swing in the wishbones is on the up stroke and therefore you are not using the stroke that the setup is designed for.

When the wishbones are level with the correct diameter tyre, the measurements should be about 145/165, (and speed humps are a doddle!).

Surely jacking before measuring will defeat the purpose laugh

Ahhhh! I see said the blind man. Yep I did misunderstand that, I've measured that front corner spot of the outrigger and yep again, it's low, I measured 110.

Thanks buddy, I do some experimenting with the adjustment

Thanks chaps - I will give about 155 & 175mm a go as the springs will indoubtedly settle a bit with initial use.
