Ok, so we bought a new car, and once the dealers air freshener has worn off there is a smell of old smoke (cigarette) in the car.

What's the best way of getting rid of it? The car has been really well cleaned so I assume the seats have been washed, but I will do it anyway.

I smoke and usually stick one of those aerosol air conditioning cleaner bomb type things in (the ones you set off in the car and leave it running on recirculate for twenty mins or so) every so often.

Non smoking pals say it completely removes the smell smile

Would this work in a house? I am doing up a property with smoke saturated carpet that is in the hall, stairs and upper hall. Its a really nice to look at and I am told mega expensive carpet to replace like for like.

A steam cleaner may help, I bought an old work van which was nicotine stained and stank, I used a bit of a 1001carpet cleaner and borrowed a steam cleaner and it was ok after that.
Either that or start smoking as that way you won't smell the fag smoke. Lol

As above, when I imported my car the previous owner had been a smoker. Got a hand held steam cleaner and went to work. It took 2-3 times to go over before the yellow muck on the cloth started to disappear. So elbow grease and a hand held steamer!

Have you tried giving everything a good spraying of Fabrees ?

I once placed a pitza in the oven of my apartment in Germany and then fell asleep while I waited for it.
10 hours later I discovered that pitza is realy not edible after 10 hours in the oven and that the kitchen smells incredibly bad biggrin

Three or foUr cans of Fabrees later, sprayed over the walls and ceiling, all was well.
Pitza had turned to carbon.
