just fitted redstuff pads all round and taken it on a 2 mile spin, god the squeal is horrendous !, deafening high pitch screeching , sounding like it s coming mainly from the rear, is this normal for a bit ?

you usually have to bed in new pads ...red stuff are a more aggresive compound though and generally the more track orientated the pad, the more they squeal when not at track temperatures i.e. most of the time under normal road use

unless you are endurance racing or doing track days every weekend, the OE pads are more than adequate ...im on my 3rd set now, and they only squeal a bit when new until Ive bedded them in

Yup the Red Stuff (which I have) are painful to bed in and take around 500 miles before the squael goes away. After that they are quiet as a mouse so hang in there!!

Have you followed the correct bed-in procedure? If not then it will help massively and speed up the 'recovery' time. Find a quiet motorway road and brake very hard (not hard enough to emergency stop though!) from 70 right down to 10/20. Repeat the process a dozen times and over a few days. This will scrub off the squaling part from the front of the pads and bed the pads to the rotors correctly. Oddly enough, in light rain or on a wet road I've found the bed-in process to work better.

And thus the reason I recommend the Porterfield RS-4 pads to everyone instead. Low noise. Low dust. No bedding in, just install and drive.

Low or no?

Red pads are no noise and noise dust - only 500 miles of suffering....

No pad is completely noise or dust free. But the Porterfields are very low in both counts. And no suffering for 500-1000 miles as I have heard others complain about with the EBCs. Having to wait that long for quiet stopping would drive me insane.
