Well, lucky man that I am, the DBS needs 4 new tyres.
Predictably, AM dealer has quoted c£250 more than other places.
One of their many claims as to why I should use them (and suck up the difference), is that apparently only they have access to the tools necessary to re-fit the tyre pressure monitors.
I do smell manure here but wanted to check whether there was any substance to this prior to calling them back and chipping the price.
Thanking you.

Don't know if you've had this car from new, but if not, make sure that the fronts haven't been balanced to compensate for the CCM rotors IAW the Aston service bulletin. If it has been done, a local place wouldn't have any idea how to accomplish the same for the new tires. If the SB has not been done to your car (because it wasn't needed), then you are good to go with a local shop since the standard practice balancing procedure will be fine.Predictably, AM dealer has quoted c£250 more than other places.

It's always worth ringing a couple of dealers to see if the prices differ. In the past I have found huge differences with the most expensive double the cheapest! For mine I'm really fussy who'd change my rubber - if you can find a reputable tyre fitter with experience with tyre pressure sensors and larger tyres they may be even better than some dealers.
My dealer has always been good value and i trust them though! They're in the bucks area if you're interested..

My car has had the relavant service updates to sort out the "wheel wobble' issue.
Mmm. Time to go back and negotiate a better price with the dealer then.
Cheers.
I think that so long as the SB pointed out by DB9VD above has not been enacted, then I don't believe this system to be proprietary.
It's not a crime to get your Dealer to change your tyres - it can give you a lot of peace of mind if you're not sufficiently experienced in this area.
If you are however, then you would, more than likely, go elsewhere

I have a 2007 V8V and recently used Event tyres to fit 4 new tyres. Event tyres are based in Liverpool and they come out to you to change the tyres. I paid £1080 for the 4 tyres fitted and balanced. Now here is the interesting bit;
Someone stole all my valve caps and so at its last MOT the guy doing the MOT put on 4 metal valve caps which over a period of about 6 months (inc winter + road salt) seemed to weld themselves onto the valve stem and so could not be undone. I acquired 4 new valves (just the valve - no sensor). I told the Event guy to be careful as the car has a tyre pressure sensor beneath each valve and that I wanted the valves changed. He carefully removed the tyres so as not to damage the sensor and we looked at the sensor (its a black plastic block about 4cm x 2cm x 2cm which is held onto the bottom of the valve with a screw (one of those star screws which I happen to have a head for). So the removal of the sensor and the fitting to the new valves was trivial.
The only 'special' equipment required is if you have to replace the sensors with new ones. Then you need some Aston software which registers each sensor with the sensor module in the car.
Hope this clears things up.
