Just done some googling including direct gov,but still none the wiser.if your car used to have screen washer jets connected but you've removed them (in my case for a removable bonnet to drive a track car to the circuit), is this an mot fail? Is it interpretation of the wording which says washer jets must be working,SP if you haven't got any its irrelevant!

Cheers!

The answer is usually confusing and contradictory. There are lots of things which dont need to be present in order to pass an MOT, which construction and use laws require.

Example: remove the lamps and switch and my car will still pass an MOT, with a 'not tested' advisory, but this is a C&U offence.

OP: fit a washer on the wiper arm, so youll retain the function, stay legal and still be able to remove your bonnet.

Im not sure how large your pipers are, but lots of cars have this on their OEM wipers and you may be able to swap one over.

Cheers for the responses.the washers moving to the wipers it seems is the best decision all round for slightly damp days.

I had a car where they were on the wipers which I thought was the best idea ever, until winter when they froze and stayed frozen, never unblocked like bonnet ones eventually do..

Mine has passed 6 MOT's with the front washers activated by the rear washer switch biggrin

Yep, washers have to be present and in good working order, mine failed due to a blocked nozzle on the passenger side.

Not quite - youd need a squeezy bulb on a bit of tube so that you could operate the bottle from the drivers seat... biggrin
