First owners of expensive/image cars ?

Was pondering the Bentley Continental thread and there is so much about Spray tans, botox, Footballers, Fake boobs and general naffness mentioned about what is quite a desirable car.
I remember the MK1 TT coming out and being utterly stunned by how different it looked, then I got a bit sniffy about the owners, seemed to be Girls and "Dapper Dans", remember being in the local off licence when two trenchcoated "apprentice" type's got out all mobile phone and Hugo Boss, they were loudly braying about buying Champagne, one asked the lady for a bottle of Moet and the other said "not that crap" and got her to get him some Bollinger, I think it was partially for my benefit, seem to remember it being about 90 quid, I was marginally impressed until his card was declined and then his other card was, his mate had to pay and they went with the Moet, I shot him a look to let him know I had clocked his embarrassment and had quite enjoyed it, I paid for my Stellas (speaks volumes ...) and left.
All the RR Sport's Q7's, Audi A5's and all the other cars that irk people seem to be of a type but when they get older and cheaper they seem to drop into more normal ownership. Is it jealousy on our parts, is it the fact they are cheaper means we don't take any notice or do some complete nob sockets buy these cars when new ?
