Respray or wrap
Discussion
I've seen a car that meets all the criteria I'm looking for in my next car; with one exception. I don't like the colour.
So, does anyone have any idea of the costs of getting a whole car respray done? And what about wraps? What are advantages/disadvantages of vinyl wraps and what sort of cost are you
Looking at?
The car in question is a Mazda RX8, and I'd be looking at a non-standard metallic colour if I were to get it done.

I like. I wouldn't personally do it to my car, but it works.Ephraim said:
4 grand for a respray? Really?
Depends how far you want to go, external only - no shuts, cheap materials, nothing removed, no repairs, just a quick key, mask and paint £350-£1000
Nothing masked, everything removed, glass out bumpers off etc. inside door shuts, boot, engine bay stripped and masked, special effect metallic, quality lacquer, £5000+

Quite easily.

Thanks for that. That's the kind of thing I was hoping to see. I guess that a couple of grand would cover a reasonably good job? Depends how far you want to go, external only - no shuts, cheap materials, nothing removed, no repairs, just a quick key, mask and paint £350-£1000

A decent respray could be about £3k+ for a full colour change.
Then you have to explain why its had a respray when you sell it.
The idea is that this next one will be a keeper. But even if it's not I'd anticipate near 100% depreciation on RX8s by then. I'm prepared to pay to get the car I want and am not expecting anything back. Then you have to explain why its had a respray when you sell it.
Might a wrap be a better idea? How long do they last?
