mitsubishi evo oil pressure
Discussion
Hi, I am having problems getting oil pressure on my evo 4. The engine has been sitting for about a year and a half. I have fitted new belts, new filter and tried to turn it over without the plugs, but light still on. I have fitted a new switch too. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, i've even tried taking off the oil cooler pipes and filling the sandwich plate with a tube and funnel of oil, taken off the oil feed pipe to the turbo and filled it full, but the light is still on. Just don't fancy letting it run until i see the light going out. Have you had experience of this before?
how fast are you turning it over without the plugs in ??
I've known people to tow a car with plugs out and drag it in gear to get the pressure up on rebuilt motors , some engines can be sods to get going, Rover V8's spring to mind , people used to pack the oil pump with grease and then prime it this way

After doing my engine and priming everything I could, I wound it over with the injectors disconnected to get the pressure up. Got it started and the light was out almost instantly. That was four or so years ago.
I don't think I got the light to go out on crank either but knew everything was OK to go for a startup.
Don't forget the galleries and bearing surfaces will have an oil film and the pump will give pressure very quickly once started.
