what wheels for £400

I have some Mavic Ksyrium Equipes which I want to upgrade as they are white which is the wrong colour for my new black frame. My budget is approx £400. I ride some sprint tri's and Sunday rides of 50-60 miles. Any recommendations are greatly received. (Shimano freehub)

You won't go wrong with either. Which is handy, as getting spares should you need them is an utter pain in the arse.

You could always speak to a good wheel builder (Wheelsmith, Paul Hewwitt, Harry Rowland etc) and see what they suggest. You'll get a wheel that's built to your exact requirements, that uses off-the-shelf components which are easily replaced...

I would also take a look at superstar components. I ordered a custom built rear from them a while ago, and so far it's been really good. Such good value that I've just ordered their lightweight off the shelf race set for my wife's bike (MTB). 480 quid for a ~1300g MTB wheelset! You'd have to pay at least three times that for that weight.

The quality of their stuff is superb, with the only caveat that customer services is utterly piss poor.

I don't really know a huge amount about wheelsets, but from what I've been reading recently the support is towards aero wheels over lighter wheels. Apparently they can make a difference over a certain avg speed - which might be useful for your tri's?
