I'll pop into my mechanics tomorrow to ask them, but thought I'd put it out here as well. A friend has a P-reg Saab 9000 CSE 2.0 (I'm not sure whether or not this would be a turbo model?). It's only done 115,000 miles and other than this is mint, but obviously it isn't worth anything. His garage has quoted £700 to replace the head gasket, and this sounds a bit on the high side to me? confused He's holding off on it until he decides what to do. To be honest though I've got no knowledge of these engines so maybe it's right, just wondering if anybody can confirm either way?

Cheers in advance smile

Regardless of what the car is worth it still takes the same amount of time and the parts still cost the same.

700 sounds about right for a professional job.

Fair enough; I've only got experience of K-series head gaskets and I know that they're a relatively cheap fix, wasn't sure whether they were the norm though smile

Regarding the value of the car itself, I think it's more a case of whether or not it's worth it when he could get a similar one for pretty much the same price (or less!).
