Absurd deals on cambelt change, 379 quid!

Anyone used mrclutch.com? They had this cracking deal a while back, 379,- for a cambelt change.

I wonder if they'll do an engine out cambelt change at that price?

I'd love to buy a 2.7 biturbo motored Audi to take to them, just to get that absurd deal.

A friend at work was recently quoted almost £600 from a renault dealer for a new cambelt on his Twingo (I think) 1.4.

Find a good specialist! My MX5 went to Autolink for a cambelt change. Cost less than most and they do an excellent job.

£379 - Nothing special, especially as it isn't including the water pump.

Which 2.7TT requires engine removal for water pump and timing belt change? Certainly not the S4 or Allroad.

Local Fiat dealer just quoted me £280 all in to fit a new cambelt to my 1.9 diesel Doblo. Judging by this thread, that's a decent price then?

Have you googled Mr.Clutch? I wouldn't trust them to change my wiper blades.

Pfft. Did my corsa cam chain at ~70k, and a mates one at ~60k. Known a different one snap at ~50k. When they say it lasts the lifetime of the engine, they only mean because the engine's life is over if it snaps!!

At least belts are usually easier to change. Even on the corsa it took me ~12 hours to do the first one on my own, and 6 hours to do the mates one with help. Can swap the engine in not much longer!

Its not bad for a dealer, an indie might be able to do it for a little less, but you probably won't get genuine parts.

Most indies will use gates kits, gates make the belts for a lot of the Marques as their original fit items

Freelance Mazda Chatham did a full service & a belt change on my wife's MX5 for £180! At that price my toolbox stays closed & it goes there!

IIRC I paid £250 to get the cambelt done on my car at an indie.

When I first got my MX-5 Mark did the works on it - full service including all fluids (diff & gearbox), air con recharged, cambelt, and some other bits and pieces, all for less than £400.

For VAG stuff i'm paying £80 for the labour plus the price of the full kit - usually another £60-80, although on some of the simpler vauxhall petrol engines we've had a belt done for £40 including fitting.

We rarely pay more than £170 all in.
