In the last few months I've been introduced to EBM. Quite an underground scene but well supported once you know of it's existence. The genre has it's origins in europe with bands like Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream but biggest band of the moment is probably VnV Nation.

Any other fans of the genre?

I've just been hired to play live drums for an up n coming EBM artist in the North East. Having to be a human drum machine is completely at odds with the metal that I usually play but it's great fun (first gig May 18th so practising hard!). smile

Wow is it still going?

My collection has tons of:
Nitzer Ebb
Front 242
Skinny Puppy
Front line assembly
Ministry
Revolting Cocks
Psyche
Secession
Portion Control
The Young Gods

Etc etc

Seen most of the live too! Happy days.

Some of it has aged badly but still gotta love a blast of masterhit, deep down trauma hounds or join in the chant, the most progressive of the lot (the young gods) still sound superb

Yep, the scene is most definitely alive and well. Plenty of Oontz Oontz to be heard for sure!....

My daughter loves EBM and has done since she stole our iPod when she was about 5.

Her favourite EBM, as it appears by default on the iPad/iMusic, is Dead Maus, though she reckons it should really be under the genre "Gear Head...."!

But she is a bit weird, she is the only person under 50 I know whose favourite artist is Warren Zevon!

Think you are confusing EBM and EDM

But your daughter sounds cool

Not that I've looked at what she has been You-tubing through her iPad but in the last hour she has had Johnny Cash at Mountville, Happy Mondays and Beethoven 9th!!!!

Esoteric, but better than prawn or fortnight!

Now, just need to get her into the Fall and Denim.

She sounds ace - how old is she? Don’t mean that in a weird way, just curious if young people still get into this genre
