peugeot vti engine knock

severe knock from top of engine at idle
good oil and pressure,no power loss
any ideas?

It seems its a problem on all cars using this engine. Its used in MINI's and there is loads about it on the internet. The timing chain seems to be the problem. We have a C3 picasso which uses the same engine as your 207, ours seems to be knocking its just done 30,000 miles. I didnt think much of it till i searched around and it seems it is a problem. It does seem to quieten down when its warmed up. Im going to pop to citroen on wednesday to see what they say before the car is out of warranty.
