Never had that happen before and there was quite a lot of it, half blood and half urine, scared the bejesus out of me. Cant get to see a GP until Friday either..... 99.9999% of the time it seems its down to urinary tract infection, I've been under huge stress recently, at work and worse at home so suspect immune system is at a low, but it seriously freaked me out.

So there you go, I did learn something new today, pissing blood is enough to make you st yourself!

Call them and ask advice.

I'd not be waiting 5 days to see a doc if I were passing blood like that.

NHS REdirect, just see your GP. If really conserned look for a GP walkin centre/out of hours visit.

What he said. I had a spate of it years ago, really scary. As you say, in my case it was down to an infection. Drink stacks of water until you get to see a doctor, I'd be going to A&E personally. It's small comfort but you're probably passing much less blood than it looks.

i had it recently as part of a medical although only a small amount. the GP referred me for a scan and to a urologist ( to be on the safe side) The urologist then recommended a cystoscomy ( ouch) In the end it was nothing other than just a small infection but I was keen to have it checked out nonetheless, even though it was uncomfortable.

I'd get to a doctor asap.

It's probably just a simple 'urinary infection', however these can have serious consequences if untreated and the infection reaches the kidneys.

For one thing, the pain of a kidney infection is supposed to be worse than childbirth.

I saw my doc today with exactly the same problem. A urine test showed up blood and protein in my urine. I was prescribed antibiotics, a 'smooth muscle relaxant' called "NO SPA", and an alcohol, coffee and spicy food free diet for ten days.

His advice was that, provided that I drunk a couple of litres of water a day, had no back or flank pain, and there were no black 'sandy' specks of dust in the urine, and that the stream started and stopped cleanly, with no post-pee dribbles, then there was nothing to worry about. Any of the above symptoms is indicative of something more serious, and requires immediate medical attention.

Forget NHS Direct, I'd be down the hospital if I were you.

Yes, its only happened once, been fine the rest of the day, but from what I read, there can be traces of blood you cant see with the naked eye. I've no pain, which is a bad thing I know, but have had an odd problem over last couple of weeks, especially at night. Wake up needing a wazz, go and do one but feel there is more to come out, but it never comes. Then go back to bed and get up 5 mins later and do some more. Can go on for ages..... It seemed to happen on gym nights so i'd put it down to the extra water I was drinking or maybe gym clothes rubbing against the old chap.

My head says its nothing, but i'd be a 'tard to ignore it, especially as the diabetes meds I'm on can potentially impact kidney function (tho this was tested only a couple of weeks ago and was normal)

Don't wind yourself up, just get it investigated, see a doctor and get it sorted, more than likely nothing to stress over. Hope all is good.

See your doc before Friday and take a fresh sample with you (as close to appt time as poss)

I am a vet nurse not a human nurse, if an owner had said they'd seen there dog/ cat pee bloody urine we'd get the animal seen the same day, we would not leave it 5 days, you should not either.

Agree with the above, you need to see a GP sooner than 5 days. Can I ask how old you are? You need to phone GP at 0800/0830 and request an emergency appointment. If the receptionists try to fob you off then request to see a nurse practitioner or attend a walk in centre.

I'd advice you to see a GP ASAP to get it accessed. It could be UTI but could also be something sinister. One day after a week long bed bound in hospital after nose op, I finally managed the strength to go to pee in the toilet. Nearly fainted when I pee-d out blood. 100% dark red blood. Had emergency scan and found some kidney stones and was sent straight to op theater to get it blasted. Queue another week in hospital...

Or ask to speak to the duty doctor, they'll often take your number and you get a call back from the doc.

Experience has taught me (not with your condition) that the best thing you can do is get yourself seen to ASAP as otherwise this will be all you think about.

Even if it's just for piece of mind I'd be straight down to A&E. It's there for a reason and you'll probably get seen to much quicker than the idiots with things stuck in different orifices.

I too had a cystoscopy a few years ago to investigate traces of blood in my urine.
Hurt like feck and to make it worse I had a small herd of medical students watching too. irked
Very pleased to report they found nothing to worry about and all okay now.

Slightly off topic, but someone once told me of a group of medical students out on a night out. One guy was drinking Guiness, and they slipped something in his drink (potassium something it think).

When he went to the loo he came out all hot and bothered. At least some was a funny purple colour as he pee'd.

It may be something and nothing OP, but as others have said, get it checked out.
