Finished with the motor industry

I have been in the motor industry for the last 15 years in sales and the last 10 in sales management and have decided its time for a change. All the fun has gone out of the job and I spend more time compiling reports and liaising with the manufacturer than actually doing what I deam "the day job".

I would like to branch into sales of some sort and perhaps an account management type role but in all honesty fairly open. Any tips on how to attract perspective employers without being put in the car industry bin and dismissed at CV level?

I have never been your stereotypical car salesman and would like the chance to get in front of someone to prove that point, any hints or tips would be most welcome.

You're facing a common dilemma as one becomes more senior and experienced; many employers seem compelled to advance personnel to either their level of incompetence or unhappiness. It's also often difficult for employees to say no to either advancement, change of role, or just taking on additional responsibilities.

Have you spoken with your boss and told him/her how you're feeling? You may be able to negotiate a move back to where you're most happy and competent or even given a complete change of role to re-install some enthusiasm. Can assist further if that would help; just PM me. Good luck!
