Best sounding road engine of any configuration

I'm looking to get to a top ten best sounding road cars of any generation be it per WW1 or just released or any where in between will also need an appropriate sound clip too.

This is not motor bikes they rightly deserve their own thread.

I'm going to keep my powder dry to start with.

Remember any engine configuration I4 v4 v16 whatever this is best sounding.

Also really a question should it sound superb throughout from idle to limiter or say a Vtec banshee lovely over can change but mundane/average before?

I would propose two.

First a 4.2 John Eales tuned V8 Rover (GM) which IMO has the best V8 sound I know. The waffle at low revs trundling along is just mesmerising.

Secondly a V12 5.6 Jaguar racing engine prepared by XK engineering or similar running hard. The glorious howl is just breathtaking!

Don't rate the dbs! tbh.
The f50 is amazing as already suggested.
I just love the c/e/sl/sls 63 amg engine note, so deep and precise, and so much different than American or Italian v8's...
