I know, wrong forum and all. I need to change the brake disc on my van, and need a 65mm bi hex socket (3/4 inch drive) in Gloucestershire. We took the old nut off with a hammer and chisel, and I don't fancy putting the new one on the same way.

I've googled like a madman, but I can't check local stock anywhere. I'm going from Cheltenham to Cribb's Causeway, then back to the van in Falfield tomorrow morning. I need it sorted by midday at the latest. Any ideas?

The van is immobilised at the moment. Half shaft and caliper are off, so I can't take it anywhere.

Halfrauds maybe, failing that, GR Fasteners, Makro perhaps, or ring the local snap-on franchise and find out his location tomorrow morning?

Have you tried Bell Tools in Gloucester on Eastern Avenue? Opposite the Fire Station. They're in the old driving test centre place. They have vast range of stock and have helped me obtain stuff in the past.

Why bi-hex? I always prefer Hex~sockets as less chance of damaging flats.

2nd thoughts. What make of van? Try their local franchise's workshop ~ they may lend you something suitable on deposit.

John, Bell Tools is a good call. I remember when they were in Southgate Street.

It needs to be bi hex for this nut:

It's an Iveco Daily. They were helpful, as you'd hope when you've just given them the best part of £500, but didn't have a socket to lend me.

I'll try Machine Mart, too. Thanks very much, all.

Machine Mart is online only, unfortunately. Bell Tools have one, for £31!
