Discussion
Dont worry i have no intention of drag racing one, nor conducting scientific tests, purely for a personal challenge. Im not mechanically minded, my side is the driving bit. I have a cracking team around me that can do anything i ask of them, i was just wondering about the power side of things in case it was such a stupid figure as to not bother from the start. Thanks for your input it is appreciated.
Thanks, ive just sold my Ultima, but goign for a new project, lighter, more power, better handling etc. I know everyone goe son about the Veyron, the Top speed bothers me very little. But the sheer brute force with which it gets there is impressive, now never seeing one in action other than on you tube, its difficult to gauge just how much power is required to be at that level, you never know my Ultima may have been able to give it a run for its money then, i had an LS3 with 550hp. Porsche G50/52 transaxle.
Cheers

MJ,
i do have to correct myself as i took a look at the Bruntingthorpe track layout,
with that long straits, you need a car with higher reving diesel engine, 7-8 gears auo-transmission,
if possible with big twin turbo, so you have a lot of torque/diesel-hp,
and that is only because of the long straits, for the corners you could use a Trabant,
greetz.

but I thought the whole reason you sold the ultima was that it didnt provide the "production car feel" that you wanted so were looking for a porsche??Cheers
As you've asked about a kit with Audi drivetrain running at Bruntingthorpe I thought I ought to mention a car I run there quite often
We run a 1.8 Audi turbo putting out 300bhp at 667kg. We get 0-60 in about 3.5 and so far topspeed we've seen when we look is 151mph We're doing the short circuit in about 1min 20 sec. This is in the Deronda Type F we reckon the V8 will go in it easily and probably the V10 would too but to be honest you'd be nuts to put that in as you'd spend all your time holding it back really.
500 bhp per tonne is about as much as you'd really want without a computer driving the car for you, which personally I don't see the point in as you become simply a passenger.
Hope that the above is of some interest.

Surely if you just want a high powered capable 7 style car? A 530bhp ultima is a great car but quicker round a track than a 300bhp 7? I'd be not.
For not much money you can build one that'll to 0-60 in 3.3ish and 100 in 7.0, 154+mph(a little scary above as it wasn't flat floored or with a diffuser!).

Yes, Red16 allready give you the right answer, to many faktors that counts.
+1. Not enough data for any meaningful feedback >> GIGOYou're not bothered about top speed, but benchmark something explicitly designed with that in mind. (Why not the LF-A?)
Google the Veyrons power to weight ratio; that's your starting point, assuming equivalent aero. Whilst your at it, check in gear and standing distance times. Compare them to Ultima (which you don't seem overly impressed by
).Target weight might be doable if grunt is only consideration, but if you want a 'proper' car.... let's just say Gordon Murray couldn't manage 1000kg with the F1 - which can't match the Veyron (itself late, over budget and by all accounts sold at a loss) through the gears or the top end. Of course things have moved on (carbon brakes, etc) since then and I'm assuming potentially higher specific output of forced induction more than offsets additional weight of attendant gubbins.
Good luck!
