Lock on grips...quick question

I have purchased some specalized lock on grips for my MTB.

This may sound like a daft question, as there is only one lock on side, to which side does it lock on. I.e. end of the bar or other way (near to the gear selector)?

I am assuming as the the plug is for the bar end.

The picture shows the correct way to fit them, with the clamp to the inside, and the bar end plug to the outside.

My Ergon GA1's came with the clamps on the outside near the bar ends, so who am I to argue

ah my bad, didn't click the link.... if they're the contoured grips then yes as pablo has shown that's the correct way to orientate them where ever the locking bit ends up.

If they're not the contoured ones then lock at the end of the bars

Make sure you've loosened ALL the locking collars and screws: some (ODIs, f' instance) have the locking bits at BOTH ends of the grip.

Are they locking ones? If not judicious application of a Stanley knife, taking care not to scratch the bar.

Old spoke or knitting needle under the grip, WD40 into the gap and gradually work the grip off. Works every time......

If they are rubber, non lock on grips, put the bike on its side with the handle in a pint of boiling water to soften it up. be careful not to burn your hand removing them though

Easiest way to get grips non lock on grips off is to open up a little gap and then blast some air from a compressor under it, shoots the grip right off!

Either you were doing it wrong, you had a blunt Stanley knife or your grips were made differently to mine. Just slice off the end, score a line most of the way through the grip down the top, then just peel off.

It took at most 10 seconds to take each grip off on mine. Certainly far less time than it would've taken to go out and buy a knitting needle!
