Are you a junction blocker?
Discussion
What is going through people's heads when they do this? Boils my piss. Been working on a contract recently down near Ringways in Leeds and my route takes me through Armley down Dixon Lane through Wortley to the T junction with Whitehall Rd (A58) and then a right turn to Ringways. Every morning without fail there is a stationary line of traffic on Whitehall Rd heading into Leeds. Very little traffic going in the other direction. Everything that approaches the T junction turns right so by leaving a gap on the main road there is zero risk of a left-turner 'jumping' the queue, but what do they do? Block the entire junction so no-one can get out
. It didn't escape my attention that most of them were driven by females too. What goes through their minds when they do this? Is it just plain dumbness and they don't realise what they're doing or is it done out of spite/selfishness/SARPness or what? Are you a junction blocker and if you are, please explain to me why you do it.

There was a similar sort of thing in Rotherham at the A630 "mushroom" roundabout - people used to block it so right turners or those going straight on got stuck and the traffic built up.
The solution, I thought, could have been as simple as putting a yellow grid down and enforcing it - but the council decided to splash about a dozen sets of traffic lights all about at significant cost and killing the traffic flow and, ultimately, people blocking the roundabout due to the poor sequence of the lights.
Morons. All of them.

Anyone familiar with cardiff may know the junction that emrges from Greyfriars Road onto Boulevard de Nantes which has 3 lanes nearest you and two on the far side (effectively an urban dual carriageway but 30mph limit).
The turning INTO this road is protected by a yellow box.
Traffic on the dual carriageway used to be two lanes turning left into the city centre and one right but last year they changed it to one turning left into the city centre and two turning right.
What that means is a much longer queue of traffic waiting to to turn left - often leaving the outer two lanes clear of any traffic but the lack of a yellow box at the exit of the junction means traffic simply queues and totally blocks off the exit from Greyfriars Rd where a lot of cars are waiting to get out.
I wrote to the Council asking they extend the yellow box but was told this couldn't be done as cars could enter and block the traffic and this would be an offence. I wrote back indicating that enetering a yellow box when the exit wasn't clear WAS an offence and the fact was that there was a clear view of the two empty outer lanes so a yellow box would permit a much swifter flow of traffic out of the city.
They didn't reply and the position remains that thoughtless idiots can still block a line of cars who could otherwise disperse. In fauirness, many are aware of the issue and leave a gap but many don't (often females I regret to say).

I have nearly missed the lights as it can be misleading which are the "stop" ones and on Thursday, had an idiot swap lane randomly nearly wiping me out. It's a fundamentally s
