I mean if you have no proof of receipts or even the name of the garage who has serviced it?
I am missing a couple & wondered if there was a way of finding this info out....

The garage I bought the car from have told me that they got a specialist to service it as this was part of the deal but they have ignored my plea to get this info from them. As it stands I do not know if they had it serviced or not & this worries me because if it wasn't done, it needs to be done. I could just get it serviced I know but as this was part of the agreement I feel they could provide me with some proof.

Main dealer histories are computerised so you can get a full Ford SH for example from a Ford dealer but any independents won't be linked in.

The trouble is, some of it isn't main dealer & I am really only after the last one to prove it has been done.

No, not really then. Other than if you could find out who the garage was and ask them.

The garage I bought the car from have completely ignored my emails & when I drove there I was told that they would send something through the post. I never did get anything & this was 9 weeks ago. I will give them another call & ask them for the name of the garage who serviced it & deal with them directly.

Try and get in touch with the previous owner to ask them?

I'd be reading between the lines on this one, but then again I'm a sceptical fker when it comes to certain things.

Mk1 eyeball

Remove air filter and have a look.
If it is a spin on type oil filter look at it and see how old it looks.
Look at the colour and thickness of the oil

Anything else is just ink on a piece of paper

So if they can't prove it was serviced but I have it in writing as part of the agreement that they would get it done, is there anything I can do?

If it has been sold with FSH and it hasn't got it or it cannot be evidenced then it's not as described.

If they said it would be serviced before sale and has not been then they have not fulfilled their side of the contract of sale.

I would go back to them and ask them to service it again if they aren't giving you any proof.

If they haven't got/won't give you the paperwork it's probably because they didn't bother doing it!

But having "records" is vital to when I go to sell it in my opinion. If I say there is no proof but you will just have to take my word for it, people will just walk away. Service records are vital in my opinion.

I have no plans to sell the car just yet by the way

While you are correct service records are vital they tell you nothing.

If you belive the service hasn't been done and are concerned about lack of service record then cough up and get it serviced.

I seriously doudt if it has been serviced as the dealer sounds like secondhand car salemen.

Will they?, you didn't!
Evidently not that "Vital" to you though? confused
My advice would be to learn from it, be more thorough pre-purchase & less quick to believe what dodgy salespeople tell you!
smile
Going forwards: Get that vital/specialist service done ASAP, then keep receipts for all the work done while you own the car...along with a note of date/mileage in each instance.

I wouldn't

I'd expect them to stamp the book and do nothing to the car.

Just spoke to the owner of the garage & he assures me that something will be sent to me within the next couple of weeks.
I do hope so.

A couple of weeks to photocopy or print something?

They are taking the piss.
yes This is also my concern. I have asked for the name of the garage who serviced it. I wait the reply.

Yeah right.

Have you looked at the filters as was mentioned earlier ?

Have they been changed or not ?
