Fuel pump - again
Discussion
Hi everyone.
Fuel pump decided not to work yesterday despite the relays clicking and have traced the problem to lack of current from the mains feed (as opposed to the ignition feed) into one of the relays (a brown and green wire on mine). No voltage drop between the fuse terminals either.
It got too dark to pull out the entire fuse box by that time but presumably there is a broken connection somewhere back there, although not really relishing tracking this through the wiring loom. Does anyone know off-hand where the fuel pump mains is supposed to plug into the fuse box? Still waiting for the Bible to arrive in the post...
cheers

Your profile doesn't say what year Chimaera you have??
Just make sure the Alarm is off before tearing-the-wiring apart. The fuel pump is isolated by the Alarm, likewise the fuel guage showing empty - so if you switch on the ignition and you do not hear the pump running and priming and the fuel guage reads zero (plus you should have a red led flashing on the dash - depending on year !!), your alarm has triggered and you won't start, despite ignition on and starter motor turning.

4.0 1994. Have only had it for 1 week....
the alarm was definitely off. the other thing that leads me to believe it is a connection fault is that shoving the wires back into the bottom of the fuse box on one occassion started the fuel pump working again for a short time. Also there is mains power to the other relay.
The problem was temporarily fixed by jumping the ignition feed to the fuel pump circuit - but i am sure this isn't doing the ignition circuit any good.

Fuel pumps are pretty much bullet proof (shame about the wiring tho) - but the two relays supporting them can give problems.
After you are really sure the immobiliser is not stopping the fuel pump, then check out the forums on the Bosch relays next to the battery - are they plugged in securely etc??
The bible does have all the info you need - plus you can check the handbook, if you got one, for the fuses intially !!
Second Chimaera, what are the last 4 numbers of the chassis ??
