928 Indicator fault

I have an interesting fault with my 1989 928 S4. When I indicate to turn left or right all the indicators illuminate and flash as if I have put the hazzard lights on. Has anyone had experience of this fault?

LAst time I saw this it was an open circuit within the hazard light switch.
Not on a 928 though
