MK3 buying...how much to take off for miles?
Discussion
I'm looking at changing to a MK3. (Having considered everything else under the sun for many months)
Now I'm looking at 2 adverts. Both identical on paper except on is at about 40,000 miles and the other 85,000 miles. And there is a grand difference. Both are in budget before negotiation. I'm just trying to work out which is best value for money.
Do I get the lower miles, or pocket the £1000 and feel smug. How much should 40,000 miles affect the value of a MK3?

Yes, to an extent.
Whats your location?
Sport every time.
I'm seeing some sports in budget. So might ignore the cheaper 2.0s.Whats your location?

Based in Wolves but looks like I'll have to travel a bit to find what I want. (No to anything vaguely silver/grey, has to be the 2.0)
I already missed out on one last weekend by about 6 hours. So I'm lothe to post up the car ad's I'm looking at in case someone closer runs over and snaps them up!

Is the mk3 like the mk3.5 where the 2l gets the LSD on both SE and sport versions? As other than the sports shocks most of the extras on the sport (chrome etc) don't really add much to the driving of the car, they're more "Luxe" than "Sport", if I was getting a mk3.5 to keep, I'd be looking at the 2l SE (and getting coilovers).
I've got a non-sport 2L '08 plate R/C (electric hard-top). Apart from the gearbox (5-speed on non-sports) it came with almost everything I needed. The useful only thing it lacked was sports suspension, which was fitted a few weeks back by Paul (Roddo), and is definitely better than the basic stuff.
I'm just learning my way around the car, but did a fair bit of reading before I bought the car. If you want to chat to a few local Mk3 owners, take a ride or poke around the car, then the local WM MX-5 meet is on next wednesday - http://www.phoenixfives.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php... , sign-up on that forum or PM me.
There's a simple button for turning off the DSC/traction. When you turn it off the car will oversteer easily and controllably when provoked. It will (as I was told and went on to test) continually spin around doing donuts until you're bored of them. Oh and the dashboard will light up with warning lights when you do this
Car control days are fun

Well it's done. This time next week I'll have a red 2.0 Sport. Brand new tyres, referb wheels.

I think the paintwork on the old one is a sign of character - some people are just so ungrateful
