Can't play Third person games.
Discussion
For various reasons I have got back into gaming (xbox) only fairly recently. Mainly I wanted to play Forza 3 and then 4. A mate persuaded me to get Skyrim. Loved it. I have clocked well over 300hrs on it since, playing in the first person mode. However wanting to do something else I have tried Assassins Creed II, Hunted and last week Witcher 2. All of which are third person games. Each one I find that I just can't get into the third person perspective. It leave me cold and uninterested. I was just wondering if this is just down to me or are others likewise affected.
Or perhaps some can't get on with First person games.

I think I am with you. I'm not a massive gamer but my favourite type of gaming (PC) is of the first-person variety. I have tried third-person but it just doesn't feel right and I lose interest very quickly. I feel divorced from the action. I want to actually be the character on the screen rather than feel like I am pulling its strings so to speak.
I could never get to grips with Assassins Creed, so much to the point that i took it back to the shop and exchanged it for something else.
Never been a fan of 3rd person games and you make a good point about the player running around like a bit of an idiot when you run into a wall for instance to hide behind it.
An exception to this are the Grand Theft Auto games which I have spent many an hour playing of recent years.
A good mixture i found was Rainbow Six Vegas, one of my favourite games. A mixture of first person for general running around and switching to a thrid person view.

God i miss that game. Shame the connection was just so laggy online.

I find if a game engages you then it doesn't really matter, like Gears and GTA you don't tend to notice.
