I read that. Now I'm even more confused. One point however. If the government can find billions to support the banks, how about a few quid to support Lotus ?
Why though? Trying to remove any sentiment from the discussion what is it about the Lotus business that makes it a good investment?Sadly it would be more appropriate for it to receive charity from the Dogs Trust than anything else.
It is an important job supplyer in the local area but the taxpayer can't step in and bankroll every business that has a failure of management. It's a job for private enterprise. I also doubt a Chinese owner would rush to move it all to China for the usual reasons.

I would love to see Lotus return British again. That would make my year.
Are there really no super-rich PH members? I thought we were all directors?
It would be great news bit sadly, it's most likely to remain a halo brand for an Asian manufacturer looking to add kudos. Are there really no super-rich PH members? I thought we were all directors?
It's such a shame but when I look at their proposed new models I don't see anything market leading that would drag people away from other top marques.
My personal view is that they should have built something like the new Novle as a halo model right at the top and achieved volume by updating the Elise concept, which lets face it is a brilliant little car.
