MINI accident repair
Discussion
Not so sure if this is normal...
Had a very small accident and the front needs a new bumper + bits n bobs. Insurance is covering it. I got a call from the MINI dealer nearest me saying that they were contacted by my insurers and wanted to know what was wrong with the car. I explained. But they needed more info.........at this point I assumed that I would have to take it to them......but they said they would send a bodyshop guy to my house? Seems overly helpful to me
Anyway he arrives, in a mini, and looks over the car. Strangely he doesnt drive it out of the garage, he pushes it out??
Seems like a decent enough guy, and says that it will need to be with them for 2-3 days tops. Ok all good.
Oh and they will pick it up for the repair work from my house and deliver it back when finished? Again seems overly helpful
Is this dodge?
Will they just come get the car and then drive off never to be seen again?
Of course I'm going to ring the dealership and confirm what is happening first. The only phone call I have had from them was on my crappy house phone which doesnt show the number which rang.
Is this normal behaviour for them to be so helpful?

Cobblers. When the insurer let their "authorised repairer" contracts the repairers have to bid competitively for them. Given they can all fix cars for money it's the bells and whistles of "customer satisfaction" which appeal to the big insurers. All part of the service, Sir.
Well I know whenever I have had body work repairs done I have been quoted less than an insurance company would for the same work without the bells and whistles. Most bodyshops seem to have two or three prices for a given job.
There's the "normal" price, the discounted "cash" price, and then the ridiculously inflated "insurance company" price. They may have to bid competitively, but when everyone is jacking the prices up, they can still charge over the odds and be cheaper!
