Newbie - question about gears when hot.. & oil pressure..
Discussion
Hi,
I have just picked up a Tuscan 4.0 (X reg). It is brilliant, but when putting it away I noticed that after a lot of faffing trying to get it into the underground parking via a car lift ( the architect should be shot ) for the final 8 point turn it was a little difficult to get first. Reverse was fine as I was going into 5th first as this is a common thing on the gear box right?
I was just wondering if I should be worried as I have only just bought it from a dealer. My E36 M3 used to do the same thing if stuck in traffic.
Also I was looking at the readout and was seeing 10psi at a 8-900 rpm idle. Is this too low? It picked up to 20Psi + at 2000 rpm with a blip of the throttle.
I am looking forward to Tuscan ownership, but may have a chat to the dealer if this is unusual!

If very hot the oil pressure seems about right at those low revs.
When my car was very hot I found it quite hard to select first gear also. In the end it turned out to be the clutch fingers were on their way out (known Tuscan clutch weakness) which sadly resulted in having to get a new one fitted. Do you know when the clutch was last changed?

With water temp at 75-80 degC and oil temp 65 degs mine idles at 12 psi-ish. Sometimes, a quick blip on the throttle will jolt the relief spring and the pressure settles at about 15 - 17 psi.
First gear can be a bit baulky on mine too, when hot. Clutch changed about 25K miles ago.
