What is the weight capacity of an S2 boot

I remember reading somewhere that you should not put too much weight in the boot. I am assuming because the fibreglass is not that strong. I only ask as I had to use the Elise on a Sainsburys run last night, BMW has a flat battery.

I had three crates of beer and not knowing the limit I chucked two of them on the passenger seat. So how much weigh can I carry in the boot?

Of the top of my head I think it is 50kg. I think there is a sticker on the underside of boot lid with the actual weight on it.

Next time, you could put one crate in the boot, one in the front, and drink the third crate. Report back.

That would be handy, save me trawling through the manual. Googling weights and all I can find are overall weight and power to weight.

It's pretty much the same density as water, so 24 500ml cans will be 12kg plus the weight of the can (which isn't very much). So you could put four 24-can crates in the boot (if they'd fit) and you'd be about on the weight limit.

I seem to remember that weight limit was not so much the ability of the boot, but what it did to the headlights; it makes the front stick up in the air, and because there's no self levelling suspension or adjustable headlights, that's the limit.

Always handy to know. You never know when you might need to.

Make sure nothing heavy can start rolling around as can cause visible marks on the outer part of boot due to lack of protection. I have a rolled up rug at back of boot to help soften any blows.
