For those that are familiar with this stretch of road and the GATSO positioned by the Bentley dealership - has anyone ever recieved a NIP from this camera?

I was exceeding the 30mph limit (Just, it was marginal), I was flashed last week on the way to Gatwick but it flashed (twice) as I approached it - in my face, and on the opposite side of the road with no distance markings on my side?

Is this normal? I thought the GATSO only worked as a rear facing capture and only captured the lane/side of road it is placed on?

Anyone got experience of this type of camera or experience of this particular one?

TIA

Mark.

If it was the other side of the road and you saw a flash, I'd suggest a car going the opposite way triggered it. As far as I know the camera trying to capture you will be on your side of the road or a traffic island in the middle, not the other side.

Be interesting if you got a ticket for minus 36mph hehe

I think the GATSO's are the only ones that actually flash, and they definitely need markings on the road as they work the speed out from the time it takes you to go between those lines (hence the 2 flashes).

IIRC, the only cameras that get your from the front are Truvelo cameras, which don't flash, so if it was the other side of the road (therefore taking a forward facing pic), you wouldn't have seen a flash.

I go past that often and receive the occasional flash going north - it's not an issue unless you're heading south :-)

There were no cars on the oppposite side of the road (it was 5am) but the responses have put my mind at rest.

Thanks all.
