Hi after trying numerous hair styling products I thought of looking at an Audi TTRS.biggrin

Found one close to me, test drove cloud9 and started doing the negotiations, on asking where the service schedule book was they said that it never had one when they took it in p/x (main non audi dealer) but they are sourcing manuals and a duplicate service schedule book.

Rang Audi to check the history, all matches up and the car has only 9000ish miles so no service due yet, but the new service history book will have "duplicate" along the front of the book and no PDI stamp or sticker.

Will this affect resale when I come to get rid or should I just walk away, even though this has the colour and spec I want and there are only 20 for sale in the uk at the mo.

Can you get hold of copies of the invoices? I'd have thought the important thing is what the service book proves, that it's been properly serviced, rather than its simple existence, and the bills would do that.

I thought most manufacturers were phasing out service books anyway. Mercedes haven't had books for four years, nor have Mazda.

These things happen and I think moving on books will be used less and less in favour of dealer electronic records.

You already have those so I'd take the risk.

As above really. If you can get copies of the invoices then even better.

Unlikely, main dealers hide behind the data protection act so you'll have a big struggle to get copies.

So long as the dealer can confirm it was PDI’d and that the Vin number matches the number plate and so forth I wouldn’t worry about it.

Audi can confirm all those details to you over the phone and blank service books are available on ebay.

Audi has confirmed it has been PDI'ed, is there anyway of getting the sticker for the front of the book or is that done at the factory ?

I think its a geniune car but obiviously some hairdresser has lost the book whilst doing a perm or something.

On the basis that the next buyer can ring Audi and check all the same info as you have, I really can't see the problem....

I lost the service book for my TT when I took it for its first service, I bought a new one from Audi for about £10 and it was basically 3 sheets of paper stapled together! I felt robbed! Then I found the origional in the garage!

It's probably fine. But even if they can convince you. Are you sure you can convince the next buyer?

Only consideration, is getting hold of the last owner as they may have it somewhere.

Personally, I'd not bother on this one.

Does it really matter, it`s only done 9k miles and the service book will have duplicate written on it, get it services when you buy, the new booked stamped and stamped everytime you have it serviced. Also it depends on how long you intend keeping the car, if you are a person who sells on every 1-2 years then a sevice history is all important, if you intend keeping it 6-7 years the condition would be more important to any potential buyer.

Neither my R8 or RS4 came with their original service books. But, both were bought from main dealers so had all invoices / recall work receipts so good enough for me.

Both had at some stage in their life been owned by women. I'm not linking the two at all.

It would not worry me - but could you contact previous owner and ask her to have a dig about just in case?
