Problems with my RX8
Discussion
About 4 weeks ago I had to take my 2004 RX8 to the dealer as the engine light came on and I was also losing coolant. I have had the car less than a year and it has 111,ooo klm on the clock. It took 10 days in all to identify the problems and correct which was a minor electrical fault and a leak in the thermostat which cost just over $1000 dollars. The engine light came on again last week and it has gone back to the dealer, who thinks it is a catatlyic converter.....cost $3000. That was 4 days ago and I've heard nothing since. is this a warning of things to come ? Until this the car had been running beautifully. With costs like this is time to trade in on a normal piston engine car ? I live in Australia. I'm thinking of switching to a BMW Z4 about a 2004 model but haven't driven one.But I do love the Mazda.
You have posted this in the MX-5 section which is going to have limited knowledge of the RX-8. You should post this in the Jap Chat section:

It is more generic for Japanese cars but that is where the RX-8 guys hang out.
