we are on the 8:20 Thursday morning. Previously, I haven't had to produce any booking references, the anpr sorts it all out. They do tell you to bring along the credit card that you used for payment.

the number plate recognition works very well so you details will almost certainly be on the screen as you pull up to the gate. if it fails you insert the cc you paid with and the details are retrieved from that. if both of those fail you'll need the booking ref from the email.
tbh, for the sake of 1 sheet it's worth taking the confirm with you imho.
